Not Afraid to Carry the Mantle: Emanuel Pleitez – 2013 LA Mayoral Candidate
Not Afraid to Carry the Mantle: Emanuel Pleitez – 2013 LA Mayoral Candidate
Written By: Jason Goodlett

LA Mayoral candidate Emanuel Pleitez hasn’t had a full night of sleep in over a year, and tomorrow’s election is precisely to blame. Wilson High School’s own Emanuel Pleitez is determined to shake up the race for the city’s top office and with any luck, be declared the winner in the coming days. What makes the candidate such an interesting story isn’t the fact that he is a young and precocious 30 years old, nor is it the fact that he waged a grassroots led campaign against some of the city’s most established and well entrenched politicians; rather it’s that the Los Angeles native is an entirely self-made, son of a single immigrant mother who’s scratching and clawing to represent the very forgotten communities of Los Angeles that helped raise him.
Boasting a Stanford education and a wealth of both non-profit and public sector experience that’s seen him excel in positions such as a Chief Strategy Officer for LA Tech Company Spokeo, to serving on President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, Emanuel is poised to do the unexpected tomorrow. The Pleitez for Mayor campaign is prepared to remind everybody what Rocky Balboa and the tortoise from the Tortoise and the Hare and every other triumphant underdog already knows, and that is that just because you’re an underdog doesn’t mean you can’t win.
