Sugar – A Feminine Look at Art – Update!

Timmery and her fellow artists have done it again!

It was apparent that Sugar, an underground art and fashion show, was off to a roaring start as soon as I made my way to the front entrance of the venue. Sounds or chatter and bellows of laughter quickly greeted me the moment I approached the front entrance.  Similar to the Queen of Hearts Gala back in October (minus the stuffed hanging man from the ceiling) the walls were decked with colorful, expressive artwork – all new pieces made by a few artists whose names I hadn’t seen before. Scattered throughout the space and along the walls were little booths and tables that displayed items that couldn’t easily be hung on the wall – such as Timmery’s 1981 Collection, and a few other jewelry design collections.  There was also no shortage of art to fancy one’s gaze upon, or lack of friendly individuals that were more than happy to strike up a conversation. Instead, artists were happy and eager to talk about their work, while others were enthused to contemplate pieces and engage in friendly conversation. There was also a fair share of dancing and singing – adding more to the event’s festivities. And, although the attire that Friday evening wasn’t as heavily themed as the Queen of Hearts Gala, you could say some of the ladies looked sweet enough to eat.
