You Make a Difference!

Purpose. “What am I here for?” Ever asked yourself that question? We all have! An anonymous person once said, “Never be afraid to do something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.” Wow! What that means is that you do not have to be perfect at whatever it is that you do. You just need to venture out and do something! You are unique. Indeed you have a purpose, and no one else can do what YOU can do.

The most successful people usually aren’t smarter, better looking, or luckier. I just believe that they took a step in a direction- whether they were clear about where they were going or not. Furthermore, I believe you can stumble upon success; everything does not have to be purpose driven. Don’t get me wrong, it is rather nice if you do know your purpose, but, contrary to popular belief, many people do not know their purpose and simply stumble upon their success. Having a sense of purpose is valuable and can be your guide, creating ease, fulfillment, and inspiration in your life. But don’t allow not knowing where you are going or not knowing what you are here for to stop you from venturing into something new!

Life is that simple. Events are not things that just happen to you. Nothing just happens. You can drive your destiny by how you think. You probably have heard “the secret” buzz and the expression “As a man thinketh, so is he.” That means you have the power to control and change your personal experiences and events in your life. Be a positive thinker; go out and do great things. I live by the principle that “some people think they can; some people think they can’t, and they are both right.” In fact, that is what “the secret” is all about. Now get started! Come on; go out and do something! You may just stumble upon your life purpose that, before now, was obscured. Live to bless others.

Your article is so right on. Most of my ventures in life, that I am truely most proud of, began as a dare or to meet a need to a problem that had been brought to my attention. I am a doer who enjoys engaging with other folk!
Great article!!

This is true…we don’t have to be perfect at what we do. Imperfect people can accomplish much! Often, people make a bad decision or a bad choice and they allow their life to be defined by that. People that press on, people that refuse to be defined by one bad decision..those are the real heroes. Everyone will fall off the horse so to speak….but only a few will get back on the horse and ride again. I’m always inspired by the words of Kennedy when he said…”some people see things as they are and ask why?…I see things that never were and ask why not?”. The key to why or why not is in deciding to get back on the horse and ride again. May all of us pursue life passionately and be committed, in spite of our own personal failures, to get on the horse and ride again!

This is a great article… I live with a certain optimism that allows me to chase my dreams and goals. I live by the mantra that ” Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, and some people don’t even know what happen” I’m a doer, maker and a shaker that way I live life with no regrets. You don’t have to be perfect just try to make it happen…

This article touched me personally. It helped me to come face-to-face with my fears and try to overcome new directions that life hands me. It’s not what one can’t do, but what one is willing to do. It’s easy to quit but takes courage to confront the many challenges that come our way. Thank you to the author for such a great article.

I loved your article! It’s inspiring, and it reminds one of what it takes to succeed in life. Without taking that first step, you never know what you can accomplish – but once you take that step, that’s when the adventure begins! Great insight and great wisdom in your article!

Great article. One of the most successful insights about living. We often fail to begin the journey as we wait for some inner GPS. How can you enjoy the abundance of living if you don’t step out in faith? Life’s journey is the adventure. God’s gift is the great opportunity to grow, discover, and develop. As you stated there is a spiritual conotation to this concerning our thought patterns. Good work Sarah!

Thank you for a much needed inspirational / motivational article. It reaffirmed my belief I can if I think I can, and to venture out and do it. Every now and then we need someone or something to give us that little push. Your article did just that.

I am touched by the response and comments to my article. With that being said, I dedicate the article to Miss Janae Jacobs, Founder of Yoo N LA Magazine, and to all of the writers, photographers, and contributors to the magazine, as each demonstrate the true essence of the article. Because I have had the privilege to be in on the ground floor of the magazine’s development, I can see the eager young faces of talent, skill, and game that are being nurtured – - the spirit of the article. Team Yoo N LA is awesome! I especially appreciate the comments from Dr. Robert Proctor, who happens to be my Pastor. In his words, “We often fail to begin the journey as we wait for some inner GPS. How can you enjoy the abundance of living if you don’t step out in faith? Life’s journey is the adventure. God’s gift is the great opportunity to grow, discover, and develop.” Certainly I can see that happening as I read the delightful articles throughout the magazine.

I am so thankful that YooNLA provides a window for the older crowd to express and communicate with all generations thru “What Would Momma Say”.

You ROCK Sarah!!! That was amazing and so true you never know unless you take the step of faith which is so very hard sometimes. But what always makes it just a bit easier for me is knowing my Heavenly Father holds me in hand EVERY STEP I MAKE!!! There is no chance happening just God inspired happenings. And yes God has created each one of us for His unique purpose. What an awesome thought, huh, the great big God that made the universe, that tells the sun to set the moon to rise and the stars to shine, took His time to put me together step by step incorporating each fiber in my being that I would need to accomplish His purpose that He set before me!! I LOVE HIM!!!!!!

love ya sarah
