Shattering the Music Game

Los Angeles is not the beginning, and it is definitely not the end for the big sounding piano led band, Shattered Atom, with their newly released album: The Knife, The Thief. The band partnered with Platform One Entertainment to release their first full-length album last September. The sound to expect is comparable to the band’s name itself: big energy and power from a small substance. The band, nothing small by any means, puts a lot of emphasis on dynamic, pop structure, synth, and, above all, catchy melodies. Each of the band members, including Jeremy Wilford (vocals), Daniel Khim (guitar), Troy Ross (bass), and Kelsey Drayton tearing it up on the drums, are so fun-loving and hilarious to chat with; it is no wonder how amazing and just downright fun their music is!

Originating from Arizona and Korea, band members came to Los Angeles primarily to pursue their dream of making music. They find their musical inspiration all around them in the community and the artistic culture that Los Angeles breeds. You probably will not find a band that sounds quite like Shattered Atom, and that is because they don’t find their inspiration from specific bands. Aspects of bands, but not entire bands themselves, influence band members. All coming from different backgrounds and different areas of musical expertise, the makings of Shattered Atom are truly unique and greatly attribute to the unique sound the band creates. As lead singer and main songwriter, Jeremy describes their new album, The Knife, The Thief, as an abstract concept. The name of the album comes from the chorus of the track titled “Maybe Someday” and paints a picture of the “push-pull between life’s ambitions…[and] obstacles we face.” “The Knife” is symbolic of the obstacles life throws at us, while “The Thief” represents the obstacles that we ourselves put in the way of our dreams. Album The Knife, The Thief is available now on itunes.com. Safe to say that it is a must-have for your upcoming music playlist.
